Vacations are a big part of Body Restoration

Vacations mean restoration for the body, for the mind and for the spirit.

Americans are giving an average of 10 days of vacation time each year. That's not enough according to brain researchers, and many don't even take all of it.

Vacations mean restoration for the body, for the mind, and the spirit.

If stress from work, family drama, health issues, or personal obligations are becoming burdensome, you may need a break from reality. A Gallup study said that usually frequent travelers had a 68.4 score on the Gallup-Heathway's Well-Being Index, in comparison to a 51.4 Well-Being score for less frequent travelers.

Retreating for a bit and focusing on yourself could be just what the doctor ordered. Neuroscientists have found that brain structure could be altered by chronic exposure to cortisol (Stress Hormone), which can be a significant contributing factor to anxiety and depression. Stress also can contribute to heart disease and high blood pressure. Recent reports say people who do not take vacations have a 21% higher risk of death from all causes. If you sit for long hours and have poor eating habits, coupled with bad sleeping habits and high-stress levels, hypertension is a given.

In one experiment, members of a consultant team were instructed to take one day off every week. In another, executives accustomed to working every evening were told to keep one evening work-free. Months later, they reported better work-life balance and being more productive and excited about their accomplishments. In conclusion, more hours spent working does not equal better work.

A new trend that is growing is Wellness Vacation. This type of vacation gives you the time and freedom to connect with yourself and focus on your values and priorities and sometimes rejuvenate by allowing you to pamper yourself. There are many resorts worldwide that offer wellness vacations, and sometimes they may be very affordable, and that is the best way to relax. How great would it be to sit on a beach, basking in the sun, reading a book? What about staying home and pampering yourself with a DIY spa day? Wellness vacations are all about taking the time to do things for yourself that you usually don't do.
